Bee City Canada aims to inspire cities, towns, First Nations, schools, businesses, and other organizations to take action to protect pollinators. The organization offers programs which recognize communities and organizations that are taking steps or are committed to future initiatives to help pollinators. Bee City Canada is a signature initiative of Pollinator Partnership Canada, a registered charity dedicated to the protection and promotion of pollinators and their ecosystems through conservation, education, and research. Beeleaf donates $1 from the sale of each Maple Honey candle to Bee City Canada.
Brown Bagging for Calgary’s Kids (BB4CK) invites and empowers people to work together to feed and care for hungry children so they can grow up to reach their potential. For over 30 years, BB4CK has been working to feed Calgary's children who would otherwise go without. The organization's vision is to see a future where communities ensure no kids go hungry. In 2020, Beeleaf donated 5% of its profits to BB4CK and look forward to continuing to support this wonderful organization in the future.
Calgary Queer Arts Society is a nonprofit organization located in Calgary, Alberta that exists to give voice to queer people and their stories. The Queer Arts Society uses storytelling mediums and artistic endeavours to inspire thoughtful conversations that educate and strengthen communities and institutions. For the past two years, to celebrate Pride month, Beeleaf created a Pride Collection of bibs, candles, and scrunchies which saw 100% of its profits, along with $2 from every other purchase throughout the month, being donated to the Calgary Queer Arts Society.
Gen Next Calgary is a United Way program that brings together local changemakers in their 20s and 30s to take action and inspire the next generation of community leaders. In June 2019, Gen Next hosted an exhibit, where participants showcased their photography and stories, and a small market for attendees. Vendors at the market, which included Beeleaf, donated at least 10% of their proceeds from the event to United Way of Calgary and Area to help those in our community who need it most.
MEOW Foundation is a specialized cat-focused registered charity and humane society with a no-kill mandate. The foundation rescues and facilitates the adoption of stray and abandoned cats into new, loving permanent homes. In addition to its Rescue and Adoption program, MEOW Foundation offers a subsidized Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP), Cat Food Assistance Program, and Trap Neuter Return (TNR) Program for cats living in the Calgary community. MEOW Foundation also offers cat care information and spay/neuter education to the public to promote responsible pet ownership and reduce the problem of pet overpopulation. Both Courtney and Karen have adopted cats from MEOW Foundation and have supported the organization personally for many years. For our 2020 Boxing Week Sale, Beeleaf chose to support the MEOW Foundation with proceeds from every item sold going towards the care and adoption of MEOW cats and the charity's spay/neuter programs.
The Veterans Food Bank of Calgary strives to restore dignity to all who use their services by helping veterans in any way needed. The organization provides a supportive shopping environment for clients who wish to utilize their food and grocery services. The organization is currently developing an area of land into a ranch where veterans can visit and spend time in nature while nurturing their mind, body, and spirit. For our Black Friday Sale in 2020, Beeleaf donated a portion of profits from every website and Etsy shop sale to the Veterans Food Bank.
